Holistic Approach

When students are happy, confident and well equipped to manage the day-to-day challenges of life, they thrive academically.

Many students who come to Nanpantan Hall Nurture Centre have been out of education for extended periods of time and can be suffering from low self-esteem as a result of negative experiences they’ve had within the education system in the past.

Through the holistic, therapeutic approach we take to learning, we help students to integrate into school and make positive progress in every aspect of their development.

Occupational Therapist [OT]

Nanpantan Hall Nurture Centre work in partnership with Elie Hart who is an independent Occupational Therapist (OT).

Elie attends the Nurture Centre every week on a Friday morning and works with pupils either on a one-to-one basis to assess individual needs or with small groups of pupils. Elie works closely with Nurture Centre staff to develop an individualised sensory program which are then implemented on a daily basis.

Speech and Language Therapist [SALT]

Nanpantan Hall Nurture Centre works in partnership with Gemma Edmounds who is an independent Speech and Language Therapist (SALT)

Gemma attends the Nurture Centre to conduct initial observations and assessments. She then works with the staff team to develop and implement individual programs for pupils that require regular SALT input.

Play/Art Therapist

Nanpantan Hall Nurture Centre work in partnership with Debbie Shield who is an independent Play and Arts therapist. (Small Steps)

Debbie visits the Nurture Centre weekly on a Wednesday morning and works with identified pupils and their families over an agreed period of time.

Jasper [Emotional Support Dog]

Our emotional support dog Jasper, is a very popular member of staff at the Nurture Centre. Students learn about Jasper's emotions and their own and spend time thinking about how to help each other stay calm.

Jasper is also a great listener and many students love chatting to Jasper and reading him a book. It’s been wonderful to see the students actively caring for Jasper too – they can help book his vet appointments, make sure he gets fed and even give him treats if he's been showing acceptable behaviours.
